NT Labs Ammonia Test Kit

NT Labs Ammonia Test Kit

Keep your fish safe with the NT Labs Ammonia Test Kit, designed to detect invisible but highly toxic ammonia in aquarium and pond water. Because ammonia cannot be seen, regular testing is essential to ensure your biological filtration is working properly and your aquatic life remains healthy.

Fish produce ammonia as waste, and while beneficial filter bacteria convert it into less harmful substances, any measurable ammonia level signals a problem. The safe level is always 0 mg/l (ppm) — even small amounts can lead to stress, illness, or long-term health issues.

Why Test for Ammonia?

  • Identifies poor biological filtration

  • Helps prevent fish stress and health problems

  • Supports stable, healthy water conditions

  • Essential for both aquarium and pond care

If Ammonia Is Detected

Aquariums:

  • At 0.2 mg/l (ppm): add a biological filter booster

  • At 0.5–1.0 mg/l: perform a 25% water change

  • Above this level: perform a 50% water change

  • Use an ammonia-removal media in the filter

  • Check other key parameters such as pH, KH, and nitrite

Ponds:

  • At 0.2 mg/l (ppm): add a filter booster

  • At 0.5–1.0 mg/l: change 25% of water volume

  • Higher levels: change 50% of water volume

  • Use ammonia-absorbing media in filtration

  • Test pH, KH, and nitrite to ensure overall balance

How to Use:

  1. Rinse the test tube and fill with 5 ml of water.

  2. Add 5 drops each of Reagents 1, 2, and 3.

  3. Cap and shake thoroughly.

  4. Wait 10 minutes, then compare to the colour chart.

    • Yellow = 0 ammonia

    • Any green tint indicates ammonia presence

Includes: Enough solution for up to 40 freshwater tests

Regular testing with the NT Labs Ammonia Test Kit helps maintain safe water quality, supports biological filtration, and protects the long-term health of your fish.
